In this weeks QuestionTime we hear the views and opinions of Craig Taylor -Learning & Development Manager – EMEA – Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation
In your opinion what is the biggest anxiety within the world of learning and development at the moment?
I don’t know what the BIGGEST anxiety is, but my gut feeling is that if we look across the entire profession there isn’t *enough* anxiety around what we do, how we do it, the value we add (or detract from).
Who or what is informing your thinking around L&D?
Will Thalheimer, Donald Clark, Jane Bozarth and the folks over at @floatlearning (now those guys getmobile!)
What is the most exciting innovation on the horizon for learning?
There isn’t one! Learning is an internal process involving repeated electrical signals within an individuals brain. Unless we undertake some bizarre evolutionary shift or have freakish brain implants I don’t see much innovation on the horizon for learning…. innovation in the ‘delivery of stuff’… now that’s a different thing….
What “game changers” would you like to see and why?
I’d like to stop seeing ‘game changers’ used ;-) but on a serious note an easy way to create mobile content that utilises a devices native functionality i.e. camera, microphone, keyboard, GPS accelerometer etc would be very interesting indeed!
What do you think the world of L&D will look like by 2020?
Disappointingly similar as to how it does today! 2020 is really only 5 years away – how much have we ‘really’ moved on since 2010?
What advice would you give your 21 year old self?
“Use a smaller cannula on the baby girl”
